New artists, designers and makers at Fabrication Leeds
As usual the first part of the year has been a busy one in terms of new sellers joining us in store. We know it can be hard to keep track of new additions, so we thought we’d introduce a few of them here:
Yorkshire More is a social enterprise based in Leeds, making jams and chutneys in support of mental health. We do this by engaging volunteers, many of whom are affected directly or indirectly by mental health difficulties, in the making, labelling and selling of the jams and chutneys. There have been many benefits to the wellbeing of those involved e.g. Improved confidence, employability and providing an opportunity to build a social network and help tackle social exclusion/loneliness.
Our ingredients are locally sourced and our products are made with a lot of care and love!
Fruitbats & Screwballs
I created Fruitbats & Screwballs after I had finished working a normal job for way too long, and took the blind leap of faith to follow a dream. I wanted to create clothes of my own, using crocheting and a love of strong color. From a young age I was taught how to use a sewing machine and many other crafts along the way by my Grandmother. Since I started my company I have gone from strength appearing at a variety of fashion shows appearing in newspapers, magazines and been asked to appear at New York Fashion Show and also officially asked by Jessica Min Ah supermodel and entrepreneur to appear at her Fashion show at Hoover Dam in America, I am only looking forward whilst keeping a strict ethical code of practice.
