Each week we bring you a short interview with our featured seller, this week is the turn of Tom from Merry Band Beard Oil and Porth Mokum Co.
Makers name: Tom Rowlinson
Describe your style in no more than 3 words: I DON’T KNOW
What do you sell in Fabrication? Beard Oil, Art Prints, T-shirts & Various Accessories
How long have you had your own business and what made you start it? Since 2014. I kinda started slowy and grew into it.
What is your workshop / studio like? Far too small?
What are your beverage and snack of choice when working? Tea & Coffee. Don’t snack much. I prefer to stop for lunch or dinner but if I need to keep going I might get a handful of nuts, an apple a slice of toast or a crumpet.
What do you find the biggest challenge of running a micro-business? Doing everything myself & making decisions.
If you could go back in time, what would you tell a younger you? Do things in bitesized chunks. Don’t worry what people think. Step back & observe often. Have patience. Don’t be too much of a perfectionist.
What advice would you give to someone who’s just starting out? Don’t try to run before you can walk.
Why did you join Fabrication, and how long ago? I joined in 2014 as I was looking for outlets.
If you could buy any 3 things from the shop, what would they be? The tall £50 houses by Drifting DownTime, a full dinner set by Margaret Glackin and maybe a dinner table with benches also by Margaret.
