Describe your style in no more than 3 words. colourful and soft.
What do you sell in Fabrication? I sell a variety of products in Fabrication. I create hand painted and hand drawn designs inspired by nature. These are digitally printed onto high quality silks and made into various products such as scarves, wristlets, purses, pouches, scrunchies, headbands, men’s ties and cushions.
How long have you had your own business and what made you start it? I started my business 3-4 years ago. It began with a huge drive and passion for my love for painting and textiles.
What is your workshop/ studio like? I have a little studio at home where I begin with painting or drawing loads of motifs. After that I work on the computer to play around with the painted motifs and create some repeat patterns out of them. These are sent out for digital printing onto silks and then made into various products.
What are your favourite beverage and snack of choice when working? My favourite beverage while working is a cup of tea or water. I love to munch some healthy snacks in between such as nuts, fruits and yoghurt.
What do you find the biggest challenge of running a micro business? The biggest challenge of running a micro business for me is managing everything alone. Sometimes I feel it’s a bit of a juggle doing everything yourself. It’s about finding the balance between creating, marketing, selling and also having a life. I thoroughly enjoy the creative side. In order to have a visibility I have a variety of social media platforms through which I interact with my audience such as facebook, Instagram and twitter.
If you could go back in time what would you tell a younger you? If I could go back in time I would like to tell a younger me to keep a work life balance.
What advice would you give to someone who is just starting up? Advice for someone who is starting up would be not to feel defeated by little hardships. Always be positive. Take little steps and enjoy the journey.
Why did you join Fabrication and how long ago? I joined Fabrication in October 2016, firstly because I loved the concept and secondly It gave me a platform to sell my products. It’s a great place for me to meet and interact with my customers and fellow artists. It has given me a lot of confidence since I Joined Fabrication and I really enjoy working with my Fabrication team.
If you could buy 3 things from the shop what would they be? That’s a hard decision. Okay if I have to choose only three, I would love to buy some of Margaret Glackin’s ceramics, Piers Edsall’s sculptural pieces and Elm Photography’s prints.
