My company name is Word Perfect and I do word art and personalised items for all occasions. The word art can be any shape and colour and can say anything you like to make it really personalised. I have been doing this for just over a year now, first of all doing it for fun and then for family and friends. I am very excited to join Fabrication and look forward to working with such a great enterprise. The most popular items are for weddings and babies. I also do other personalised items such as on this day items for special events. If anyone has anyRead More →

Bethanie was born in Portsmouth, then moved to Norwich for University, and is now based in Leeds! Along with her ethnic background, locations naturally became an important part of her life. Originally using her papercuts as stencils for printmaking, she felt sad to throw away these detailed stencils and decided to frame them. For as long as she can remember, Bethanie has always been cutting paper. All artwork, including her business cards, are carefully designed and hand-cut with minimum injury to herself! With a lot of patience, she creates intricate maps and designs to share with everyone. Big or small, her products can personalised toRead More →

Welcome to Drifting DownTime…    Finding things, making things, starting something, never quite sure how it will end up… I love driftwood: you see it on the beach and it makes you think. And you pick it up, dust it off, turn it this way and that; lay it out to dry for 2-3 weeks, glancing at it every now and then, studying it, watching as it changes weight, colour, even shape, sometimes. And then…there’s a little shifting of something…..and when you put it down, it’s not back with the other pieces, but on the table, ready… I guess it’s the mystery and unknowable backstoryRead More →

”Would you ever be  good girleen and…….” Girleen Giftware is a family business run by husband Danny, wife Catherine and their 3 littleones. The name ‘Girleen’ is a tribute to their Irish backgrounds and upbringing where ‘een’ was often added to the end of words. Inparticular, Catherine’s Mam would often refer to her as a ‘good girleen’, hence the name. Girleen Giftware’s products have always reflected the family’s interests. In the early days of the business, Catherine worked independently, selling a range of Irish, Celtic and Religious goods including handmade cards with inscriptions in Irish Gaelic. The range has also recently expanded to include signs,Read More →

Shelley Lodge graduated from Huddersfield University in 2012 with a first class honours degree in Art and Design.  During her degree she specialised in enamelling and now makes a wide range of contemporary enamelled items including, jewellery (pendants, cuffs, earrings, bracelets, brooches) as well as wall art, miniature abstract landscapes, accessories and decorations.  The enamelling process involves fusing glass to copper in a kiln at around 900 degrees; due to the nature of this process, all items are unique, as well as 100% handcrafted. Although the art of enamelling is thousands of years old, Shelley aims to be innovative in her approach to enamelling, creatingRead More →

Art Matters is the new social enterprise run through People Matters, and funded by Leeds City Council. It consists of two groups of eight artists, who meet on a weekly basis to learn new techniques, develop business skills, express their personal style and ideas, and be part of a thriving creative environment. We had an event in October to launch our new enterprise, which was a part of the Love Arts 2012 festival. We also exhibited our artwork in the Light shopping centre for the festival, which gave us the opportunity to network with likeminded individuals and groups. Since October 2012, Art Matters have beenRead More →

Hi, we are Pauline and Chris, two friends who both enjoy beading. We both have different styles and tastes, which we have found complement each other. We also both believe that a girl can never have too many beads. As each bead is hand stitched, making the jewellery take time to evolve, we made a decision to use top quality Japanese beads, Swarovski crystals and pearls, together with semi precious stones wherever possible. Where fastenings are used, they are made from sterling silver or filled gold. Our jewellery is intended to be affordable, as well as something special to wear, that is hand made andRead More →
