Originally used as a list of priests who did not attend mass in the Vatican, come recreate this surprisingly modern looking late medieval/early modern binding based on a surviving example in the Vatican library.
This class will take you through preparing your pages, sewing, lining your cover
with decorative papers as well as creating an elaborately cut label for the cover.
Leave the class with a period-appropriate 16th-Century binding, and skills to make many more.
Suitable for complete beginners to bookbinding. Ages 16+
This class will be taught by Anachronalia. Based in Leeds, Anachronalia has been binding for over 15 years and teaching for over 10. With a background in medieval studies, she fuses historical techniques with modern materials to create her own range of books and stationery.
This class will be held in Fabrication York at 32 Stonegate, York YO1 8AS
Access: The Fabrication shop has 3 steps up from the street and 2 further steps inside to access the rear of the shop. The class area is located at the rear of the shop floor. Toilets are on the first floor and accessed via stairs only.
