Bethanie was born in Portsmouth, then moved to Norwich for University, and is now based in Leeds! Along with her ethnic background, locations naturally became an important part of her life. Originally using her papercuts as stencils for printmaking, she felt sad to throw away these detailed stencils and decided to frame them. For as long as she can remember, Bethanie has always been cutting paper. All artwork, including her business cards, are carefully designed and hand-cut with minimum injury to herself! With a lot of patience, she creates intricate maps and designs to share with everyone. Big or small, her products can personalised toRead More →

Welcome to Drifting DownTime…    Finding things, making things, starting something, never quite sure how it will end up… I love driftwood: you see it on the beach and it makes you think. And you pick it up, dust it off, turn it this way and that; lay it out to dry for 2-3 weeks, glancing at it every now and then, studying it, watching as it changes weight, colour, even shape, sometimes. And then…there’s a little shifting of something…..and when you put it down, it’s not back with the other pieces, but on the table, ready… I guess it’s the mystery and unknowable backstoryRead More →

Several years ago I attended a stained glass course at my local education centre (Swathmore in Leeds), and I found a passion for creating glass pieces using traditional stained glass techniques – both using copper foil for smaller pieces and lead for larger ones.   After becoming more proficient in the basics, I decided to invest in the equipment I needed to enable me to continue to develop my skills at home – that was the beginning of the journey, after filling all the windows in our home with glass creations, I began to give them away for any occasion!, and then friends and familyRead More →

My name is Sara Gartside. I studied Illustration at the University of Westminster and graduated with a first class honours degree, many moons ago! Since then I have worked full time as an Illustrator, Muralist and Designer. The hours are long and I have no switch off button, but I am passionate about my work and never forget what a privilege it is to use my talent and make a living from doing something I love. My work has often incorporated Hearts and a few years ago I decided to develop my interest for this universal shape within my work. I love combining art withRead More →

I have always enjoyed being creative and I was inspired and encouraged from an early age by my family; not least my seamstress grandma and crocheting mum. I have turned my hand to several crafts but in recent years have developed a love for embroidery and hand-stitching, hand-made cards/stationary and most recently pyrography. After making things for family and friends for some time, and receiving their encouragement, I began to work on my own designs and ideas and Life’s little blessings was born… Life’s little blessings is about acknowledging and appreciating the little things in life; whether it be celebrating those familiar special occasions, encouragingRead More →

Bobbinaround is based in Leeds in my home studio. I take inspiration from nature, whether it’s textures, shapes or colour, incorporating my love for textiles. Fabrication has given me a fantastic opportunity to showcase my work in the centre of Leeds. A large range of textile materials are used in my work, but I like to specialise in the use of wool, whether it’s using the fibres to create felt or traditional wool suiting fabrics to produce home furnishings. I enjoy experimenting with the materials of my craft when producing a hand felted product. Often wool fibres and are wet felted and stitched, and thenRead More →
