Craft Classes
Fabrication runs a wide variety of craft classes in York, as weekend workshops and evening courses.
We have a number of adult education classes in York City Centre. Ranging from sewing & historical dressmaking courses, through to printing workshops.
Also bookbinding classes, candle making, illustration and felting. Learning with experienced tutors.
There are crafty hen parties and outreach learning as well
Classes for complete beginners, through to intermediate and more specialist skills.
Classes are held at our Coney Street shop on the 1st floor

Beginners Candle Making Workshop in York city centre
11am - 1pm on Sun 11th August 2024 £45 per person, max 4 people per class. Ideal for anyone new to candle making. You can enjoy learning how to make your own soy wax candles and tealights. Working at a relaxed pace and choosing from various aromas you will make 2 x tin container candles and a set of 6 tealights. These are yours to keep (once they've cured). Workshops are kept small to allow for individual attention, all materials, equipment and tuition are included in the price. On the day all you need to do is turn up and enjoy. Your tutor is Wendy, owner of York based business PQ Soy Wax Candles. Wendy has over 10 years experience of making candles and wax melts. After the workshop, Wendy will manage the curing and CLP labelling and your candles will be ready to collect from Fabrication York 2 weeks after the workshop. All the products you'll make are suitable for Vegans. Under 16's must be accompanied by an adult (over 18). The workshops last around 2 hours with complimentary tea, coffee, biscuits. Please advise of allergen requirements at least 48 hours prior to the workshop. Create Your Own Terrarium

Sat 15th June 11 - 1pm Sun 21st July 11.30 - 1.30pm £65 per person and your 2 hour session includes:- An introduction to terrariums
- Briefing on choice of materials, terrarium dynamics and aftercare
- Demonstration and hands on making
- Take home your creation
These courses will be conducted by Amarah, a surgeon by profession, who has temporarily taken a step back from the operating room, to spend more time with family and explore her creative side as a terrarium artist. On this platform, she shares her skill and conducts Terrarium Making Classes, providing an opportunity to learn a new skill and inspiring others to discover the joy and therapeutic benefits of creating these green scapes!

Needle Felting – Needle Felt A Seascape

Create a needle-felted picture in this fun and relaxing 2 hour workshop with Brenda Christison from Felty and Fabulous. You will learn 2D needle felting techniques and produce your very own picture felted onto a piece of vintage blanket. Parent and Child Pottery Painting Session

Exclusively run on Tues 6th Aug 11 - 1.30pm or 2 - 4.30pm Come to the craftiest place in Leeds for our brand-new pottery painting sessions. Paint your choice of mug, plate, bowl, or tile with a design of your choosing using underglazes while you sit and chat with friends and family! At the exclusive price of £20 per person with no hidden costs or fees, drinks and refreshments provided, this is the perfect opportunity to socialize and craft in Leeds City Centre. Paint your pottery, leave it a week or two, and when you get a text or email notification that your pot has been glazed and fired, come and collect it from the Fabrication reserve shelf at any point during opening hours! Children must be supervised by an adult and though the adults do not have to paint they must stay upstairs with the child at all times. Max 3 children per adult. Workshops are recommended for children aged 5+ though younger children are welcomed with a hands on parent to help them. These courses will be run by Becky Walker of BBRT and supported by Katy Davies from Ceramic Rabbit. Becky has been making for as long as she can remember and currently sells mosaics and children’s clothes and accessories at Fabrication on Briggate. She loves to create and even though she sells broken glass and ceramics- she loves to paint pottery. Becky has been teaching for over 10 years and is excited to facilitate pottery painting sessions at the fantastic Fabrication Crafts! Katy is a talented ceramicist, and her craft has been passed down in her family for generations. She inherited her kiln from her grandmother, who was also a ceramicist, and Katy is excellent at hand building figurines. She is the behind-the-scenes expert on ceramics and will be helping glaze and fire the pieces you paint. This class will be held in Fabrication Leeds at 83 Briggate, Leeds, LS1 6LH (1) Facebook Access: The Fabrication shop has level access to the street.
