£45.00Beginners Candle Making Workshop in York city centre
Sat 7th June 11.30 - 1pm Sat 5th July 11 - 12.30pm Sat 20th Sept 11 - 12.30pm Beginners Candle Making Workshop in York city centre. Ideal for anyone new to candle making. You can enjoy learning how to make your own soy wax candles and tealights. Working at a relaxed pace and choosing from various aromas you will make 2 x tin container candles and a set of 6 tealights. These are yours to keep (once they've cured). Workshops are kept small to allow for individual attention, all materials, equipment and tuition are included in the price. On the day all you need to do is turn up and enjoy. Your tutor is Wendy, owner of York based business PQ Soy Wax Candles. Wendy has over 13 years experience of making candles and wax melts. After the workshop, Wendy will manage the curing and finishing of your candles which will be ready to collect from Fabrication York 1 week after the workshop. All the products you'll make are suitable for Vegans. Under 16's must be accompanied by an adult (over 18). The workshops last around 1.5 hours with complimentary tea, coffee, biscuits. Please advise of allergen requirements at least 48 hours prior to the workshop. £40.00Jesmonite – Make a set of homewares Dates: Sat 21st June 2 - 4pm Sun 8th Nov 2 - 4pm During this 2-hour workshop you will be shown step by step, with demo’s, how to create a Jesmonite (non-toxic, eco-friendly, water-based resin) trinket tray, coaster and small pot using Terrazzo, Marbling & Block Colour techniques. You will have the chance to get creative with these techniques and various colours. At the end of the class, you will have made a pretty set of homewares and as jesmonite is quick to set you can take it straight home with you. £40 per person. All materials for each process are provided so just turn up and enjoy. No experience needed. You may wish to bring an apron if you want to keep your clothes clean, as it can sometimes be a messy process. Classes are limited to 6 people to allow support to be given where needed. Suitable for age 12+ under 16 to be accompanied by an adult. Your tutor is Wendy of PQ Soy Wax Candles. Wendy started to experiment with Jesmonite in 2023 and loves the fast-setting process and different techniques you can use. Create a needle-felted sheep in this fun and relaxing 2-hour workshop with established textile artist, Brenda Christison, from Felty and Fabulous. You will learn 3D needle felting techniques and produce your very own sheep to take home. All equipment provided, including a selection of gorgeous wool colours to choose from and lots of examples to inspire. Beginners and those with experience welcome! Age 10+. What has always captivated me most is the creative freedom found in working with clay — the way it allows the imagination to flow freely toward a finished design.
I began using clay as a way to prototype my metal pieces, and through that process, I fell in love with the medium itself. Now, it brings me great joy to share this journey with others, teaching the craft and inspiring new makers to explore their own creativity.

Join established textile artist, Brenda Christison, from Felty and Fabulous to learn how to add patches and stitches to breathe new life into your clothes.
