Christmas Origami Star Garland Workshop

Christmas Origami Star Garland Workshop Sat 25th Nov 2023 10.30am - 12.30pm

Join Laura from L & S Crafts (2) Facebook at Fabrication York in York city centre, for a fun papercraft workshop to make Christmas origami stars.

During the session you will learn how to fold five-pointed stars from pretty, plain and patterned paper in a variety of sizes. These can then be strung together to make a Christmas garland, used to decorate presents and cards, or be made into decorations for your home. They also make lovely gifts for friends and family.

All equipment and materials will be provided, including our specially designed kit containing all you need to make different sized star garlands.

You will also receive a link to our origami star video tutorial to continue creating at home after the workshop.

Hot drinks will be available.

Minimum age for participants is 18 years

Shaun Casey is from Leeds, the Hyde Park Headingley area, he went to the Leeds Metropolitan University where he gained my BA ( Hons) degree in graphic arts and design, majoring in illustration, He's always had an interest in drawing but never pursued in his younger years due to helping bring up a young family. In 2011 he spent some of his spare time drawing the exhibits at the Royal Armouries in Leeds where his work was spotted by staff and an exhibition of his work at the Armouries ensued.

This gave his confidence a lift and although it was stop start regarding drawing again, he picked up the pen once more in 2019 and started drawing animals in fine liner ink, he liked the control of the pen and the deep dark textures of the ink and before he knew it he started illustrating a book on WW1, he have completed 62 A3 ink drawings on this his wife Lesley-Jane writing the back stories.

They are hoping to publish the book later this year, he hopes all that see my work will find it aesthetically pleasing, he's never really thought of myself as an artist but a craftsman with a pen.

Make your own Vintage Style Notebook - 20th July 2024 13:00-16:30 £40 a head. Maximum 6 participants. Hot drinks included. Suitable for beginners to bookbinding but some previous craft experience is helpful. Make your own vintage style notebook inspired by stationery bindings of the late 19th/early 20th Century. This class will take your through the basics of sewing and gluing up a text block, creating the cover in a traditional 1/2 bound design (i.e. with spine and corners in book cloth and the cover in marbled paper) and casing in. At the end you will have your own blank notebook to take home. This class will be held in Fabrication York at 19 Coney St, York YO1 9QL Access: The Fabrication shop has level access to the street. The class area is on the first floor accessed via 2 flights of stairs. Toilets are on the first floor and accessed via three sets of fire doors.
