Sustainable Fashion Workshop – Embroidery

Has your favourite pair of jeans ripped? Do you want to learn how to patch up an item of clothing rather than buy new?s will teach you the embroidery skills needed. You just need to bring along your garment – patches, threads (refreshments?) and fun all supplied!

Thanks to a grant from First Buses Fabrication Crafts on Coney Street have been running a number of free workshops showing participants how to upcycle, repair and enhance their clothing.

Join us for a special York Fashion Week Event with Brenda from Felty and Fabulous

The class is free but places are limited so must be booked in advance to take part

Please note this event will beheld in our York Coney Street shop in the upstairs classroom space with no disabled access

    About Jackie With over 20 years of experience in silversmithing and metalsmithing, I’ve developed a deep love for the art of jewellery making. What has always captivated me most is the creative freedom found in working with clay — the way it allows the imagination to flow freely toward a finished design.

    I began using clay as a way to prototype my metal pieces, and through that process, I fell in love with the medium itself. Now, it brings me great joy to share this journey with others, teaching the craft and inspiring new makers to explore their own creativity.

    This class will be held in Fabrication York at 32 Stonegate YO1 8AS Access: The Fabrication shop has stepped access from the street.  The class area is located on the ground floor of the shop with access via the shop floor (which also has a step enroute).   Toilets are also on the first floor and accessed via stairs only.

    Christmas Candle Making Workshop in Leeds city centre

    Christmas Candle Making Workshop Dates: Sat 16th Nov either 11 -1pm or 2 - 4pm Sun 24th Nov 2 - 4pm Sun 8th Dec 2 - 4pm Ideal for anyone new to candle making.  You can enjoy learning how to make your own soy wax Christmas candles and tealights.  Working at a relaxed pace and choosing from various Christmas aromas you will make 2 x tin container candles and a set of 6 tealights.  These are yours to keep (once they've cured). Workshops are kept small to allow for individual attention, all materials, equipment and tuition are included in the price. On the day all you need to do is turn up and enjoy. Your tutor is Wendy, owner of York based business PQ Soy Wax Candles.  Wendy has over 10 years experience of making candles and wax melts. After the workshop, Wendy will manage the curing and CLP labelling and your candles will be ready to collect from Fabrication Leeds Facebook 1 week after the workshop. All the products you'll make are suitable for Vegans. Under 16’s must be accompanied by an adult (over 18).  The workshops last around 2 hours with complimentary tea, coffee, biscuits.  Please advise of allergen requirements at least 48 hours prior to the workshop.     Want to learn how to needle-felt? Or want to improve your skills?
    Make a small seaside scene in this fun and relaxing 2 hour workshop with Brenda Christison from Felty and Fabulous.
    You will learn the basic needle felting techniques and then create  a small landscape to take home. All equipment provided, including a selection of gorgeous wool colours to choose from.
    Beginners welcome! Age 10+. Children to be accompanied by an adult.
    Cost is £25 including all materials, equipment and tuition  along with tea, coffee, biscuits.
    Saturday 8th July 10.30 - 12.30 This class will be held in Fabrication York at 19 Coney St, York YO1 9QL Access: The Fabrication shop has level access to the street. The class area is on the first floor accessed via 2 flights of stairs (can potentially be moved into the shop area by request). Toilets are on the first floor and accessed via three sets of fire doors.
