Slow Fashion Darning and Embroidery Workshop join us for a special York Fashion Week Event

Darning is an eco-friendly way to repair your clothes, helping them to avoid landfill and preserving a fabric you love.
It is a low and therapeutic embroidery process that strengthens your clothes while adding a decorative element.

You can either bring along something to mend or we can provide all the materials so that you can learn this hand embroidery technique.

Thanks to a grant from First Buses Fabrication Crafts on Coney Street have been running a number of free workshops showing participants how to upcycle, repair and enhance their clothing.

Saturday 29th April 11am to 1pm the workshop is free however prebooking is required to save a place

This is held at our York Coney Street shop, on the 1st floor in our upstairs classroom space with no disabled access

    Want to learn how to ‘paint with wool’?
    Create a needle-felted picture in this fun and relaxing 2 hour workshop with Brenda Christison from Felty and Fabulous (4) Felty and Fabulous | Facebook . You will learn 2D needle felting techniques and produce your very own picture felted onto a piece of vintage blanket. All equipment provided, including a selection of gorgeous wool colours to choose from. Bring a photo you would like to copy or be inspired by Brenda’s example landscapes.
    Beginners and those with experience welcome! Age 10+. Children to be accompanied by an adult.

  • Yorkshire Art Exhibition – 13th to 21st April 2024

    Sat 13th - Sun 21st April Yorkshire A multi-disciplinary exhibition which showcases Yorkshire.  From its colourful history to its beautiful coastline and anything in-between the exhibition celebrates Yorkshire based artists and how they choose to interpret this beautiful part of England. Free Entry.  11.30 - 3.30 daily To compliment this exhibition our studios will also be open to members of the public to see our range of artists at work including pastels, candle making and batik. Our York exhibition space is situated on the first floor, accessibly via 2 flights of stairs, of the York Fabrication Retail space, 19 Coney St, York, YO1 9QL, within a 2 minute walk to buses and a 10 minute walk to car parks and to York Railway Station, surrounded by other independent shops, bars and restaurants and in the heart of York City Centre.     Join Laura from L & S Crafts (2) Facebook at Fabrication York in York city centre, for a fun papercraft workshop to make Christmas origami stars.
    During the session you will learn how to fold five-pointed stars from pretty, plain and patterned paper in a variety of sizes. These can then be strung together to make a Christmas garland, used to decorate presents and cards, or be made into decorations for your home. They also make lovely gifts for friends and family.
    All equipment and materials will be provided, including our specially designed kit containing all you need to make different sized star garlands.
    You will also receive a link to our origami star video tutorial to continue creating at home after the workshop.
    Hot drinks will be available.
    Minimum age for participants is 18 years
