Make your own Vintage Style Notebook – 20th July 2024

Suitable for beginners to bookbinding but some previous craft experience is helpful.
Make your own vintage style notebook inspired by stationery bindings of the late 19th/early 20th Century. This class will take your through the basics of sewing and gluing up a text block, creating the cover in a traditional 1/2 bound design (i.e. with spine and corners in book cloth and the cover in marbled paper) and casing in. At the end you will have your own blank notebook to take home.

This class will be held in Fabrication York at 19 Coney St, York YO1 9QL

Access: The Fabrication shop has level access to the street. The class area is on the first floor accessed via 2 flights of stairs. Toilets are on the first floor and accessed via three sets of fire doors. If you have any specific access queries, don’t hesitate to contact Anachronalia.

Based on a 16th-Century book in the Vatican library, come make your own lay flat sketchbook, using only paper, card, needle, and thread. Along the way learn more about the types of books used by ordinary folk during the later medieval period for accounts, ledgers, and pocket notebooks. This class will be held in Fabrication York at 19 Coney St, York YO1 9QL Access: The Fabrication shop has level access to the street.     • Briefing on choice of materials, terrarium dynamics and aftercare
