Time To Be Creative – Bind Your Own Tome
12th May 2024: 10:30-17:30 (with a break for lunch)
£80 a head. Maximum 6 participants. Hot drinks included.
Suitable for beginners but some previous craft experience is helpful. All tools and materials provided.

Whether your tastes are more are more cottage core or dark academia, this class will take you through making a fabulous notebook for you to take home. Includes a wide variety of fabrics and papers to choose from (and you are welcome to bring and include your own if useable), as well as the opportunity to incorporate 3D elements such as jewellery into your book.

This class will be held in Anachronalia’s city centre workshop Fabrication2 venue at Hereford House, 6 Edward St, Leeds LS2 7NT

There are plenty of local eateries to take your lunch in, or you can bring a packed lunch and sit in the workshop itself.

Access: the workshop is on the first floor, accessed via a short flight of stairs to the ground floor, then a larger flight of stairs with handrail accessed via a fire door. Toilets and kitchen facilities are on the same floor as the workshop. If you have any specific access queries, don’t hesitate to contact Anachronalia.

This class will be held in Fabrication York at 32 Stonegate YO1 8AS There are a number of eateries in York, but we recommend you bring a packed lunch or purchase a take-away meal as the break will be relatively short and York can get quite busy at lunchtimes. Access: The class room area is accessed via the Fabrication shop and is located on the ground floor towards the back of the shop space. The shop has two steps up from the street. Inside there are a further two steps from the front of the shop to the back of the shop.     Bookbinding – 16th-Century Style Sketchbook – 9th Jun 2024

    9th Jun 2024: 13:00-16:00 £30 a head. Maximum 6 participants. Hot drinks included. Suitable for beginners but some previous craft experience is helpful. All tools and materials provided. Based on a 16th-Century book in the Vatican library, come make your own lay flat sketchbook, using only a folded card cover, drawing paper pages, and a deceptively simple looking sewing pattern. Along the way learn more about the types of books used by ordinary folk during the later medieval period for accounts, ledgers, and pocket notebooks. This class will be held in Fabrication York at 19 Coney St, York YO1 9QL Access: The Fabrication shop has level access to the street. The class area is on the first floor accessed via 2 flights of stairs. Toilets are on the first floor and accessed via three sets of fire doors. Based on a 3rd-Century book found in Egypt, come make your own leather notebook using historically appropriate methods. Made of leather, lined in papyrus, and tied shut with multiple ties, this rustic notebook is modelled after the Nag Hammadi Codices. Along the way learn more about the methods used to make this book and how & why they were made the way they are.     Needlefelt a Sheep Wednesday 20th August 11am - 1pm Want to learn how to sculpt with wool’? Create a needle-felted sheep in this fun and relaxing 2-hour workshop with established textile artist, Brenda Christison, from Felty and Fabulous. You will learn 3D needle felting techniques and produce your very own sheep to take home. All equipment provided, including a selection of gorgeous wool colours to choose from and lots of examples to inspire. Beginners and those with experience welcome! Age 10+. Children to be accompanied by an adult. Access: The Fabrication shop has step access from the street.  The class area is located at the rear of the shop floor in a separate room.  Toilets are on the first floor and accessed via stairs only.
