Make your own Vintage Style Notebook – 20th July 2024

Suitable for beginners to bookbinding but some previous craft experience is helpful.
Make your own vintage style notebook inspired by stationery bindings of the late 19th/early 20th Century. This class will take your through the basics of sewing and gluing up a text block, creating the cover in a traditional 1/2 bound design (i.e. with spine and corners in book cloth and the cover in marbled paper) and casing in. At the end you will have your own blank notebook to take home.

This class will be held in Fabrication York at 19 Coney St, York YO1 9QL

Access: The Fabrication shop has level access to the street. The class area is on the first floor accessed via 2 flights of stairs. Toilets are on the first floor and accessed via three sets of fire doors. If you have any specific access queries, don’t hesitate to contact Anachronalia.

Saturday 29th April 11am to 1pm the workshop is free however prebooking is required to save a place This is held at our York Coney Street shop, on the 1st floor in our upstairs classroom space with no disabled access

    Christmas Candle Making Workshop in Leeds city centre

    Christmas Candle Making Workshop Dates: Sat 16th Nov either 11 -1pm or 2 - 4pm Sun 24th Nov 2 - 4pm Sun 8th Dec 2 - 4pm Ideal for anyone new to candle making.  You can enjoy learning how to make your own soy wax Christmas candles and tealights.  Working at a relaxed pace and choosing from various Christmas aromas you will make 2 x tin container candles and a set of 6 tealights.  These are yours to keep (once they've cured). Workshops are kept small to allow for individual attention, all materials, equipment and tuition are included in the price. On the day all you need to do is turn up and enjoy. Your tutor is Wendy, owner of York based business PQ Soy Wax Candles.  Wendy has over 10 years experience of making candles and wax melts. After the workshop, Wendy will manage the curing and CLP labelling and your candles will be ready to collect from Fabrication Leeds Facebook 1 week after the workshop. All the products you'll make are suitable for Vegans. Under 16’s must be accompanied by an adult (over 18).  The workshops last around 2 hours with complimentary tea, coffee, biscuits.  Please advise of allergen requirements at least 48 hours prior to the workshop.     Join Laura from L & S Crafts (2) Facebook at Fabrication York in York city centre, for a fun papercraft workshop to make Christmas origami stars.
    During the session you will learn how to fold five-pointed stars from pretty, plain and patterned paper in a variety of sizes. These can then be strung together to make a Christmas garland, used to decorate presents and cards, or be made into decorations for your home. They also make lovely gifts for friends and family.
    All equipment and materials will be provided, including our specially designed kit containing all you need to make different sized star garlands.
    You will also receive a link to our origami star video tutorial to continue creating at home after the workshop.
    Hot drinks will be available.
    Minimum age for participants is 18 years

All the fun of bookbinding at a fraction of the size. This class will take your through the basics of making a miniature case binding, using book cloth and decorative paper. All materials will be provided but participants are very welcome to bring their own paper to incorporate into their bindings if suitable. Create your very own tiny tome. Tomes can have jump rings added if you would like to turn your tome into a book themed necklace or brooch. A short fun class aimed at beginners.
