Suitable for beginners but some previous craft experience is helpful. All tools and materials provided.

Based on a 3rd-Century book found in Egypt, come make your own leather notebook using historically appropriate methods. Made of leather, lined in papyrus, and tied shut with multiple ties, this rustic notebook is modelled after the Nag Hammadi Codices. Along the way learn more about the methods used to make this book and how & why they were made the way they are.

This class will be held in Fabrication York at 32 Stonegate YO1 8AS

Access: The class room area is accessed via the Fabrication shop and is located on the ground floor towards the back of the shop space. The shop has two steps up from the street. Inside there are a further two steps from the front of the shop to the back of the shop. Toilets are on the first floor accessed by 2 flights of stairs. If you have any specific access queries relating to the course content, don’t hesitate to contact Anachronalia.

    Beginners Lino Print Making

    Saturday 16th March 10 - 1pm Learn the basics of lino printing: from carving to inking to printing a lino block (A6 size) with Rachel Holborow of RK Wanderings printmaking - an experienced teacher, member of York Printmakers and York Open Studios artist. In this three hour workshop you will begin by learning about the tools and materials of lino printmaking; design your own lino block (please bring an idea (A6 drawing) of what you might like to print) and then carve it; then experiment with printing it. We will use Caligo safewash inks, which are vegetable oil based, non toxic and easy to clean up. There will be a maximum of 5 participants and you must be over 18 to take part. Be aware, you will use sharp tools at your own risk! (Safety tips will be covered at the beginning of the workshop and must be adhered to.) All materials for the workshop are included in the price, and you can take home the lino block you carve and - two weeks later (once they are dry) - your prints. Your prints can be picked up from Fabrication York, or posted to you for £3 P+P. Additionally there will be the opportunity to buy  your own tools and materials on the day if you wish to take them home to develop your skills. Total cost for this 3 hour workshop is £35 which includes workshop materials, use of equipment and tuition + tea and biscuits.     Want to learn how to needle-felt? Or want to improve your skills?
    Make a small meadow scene in this fun and relaxing 2 hour workshop with Brenda Christison from Felty and Fabulous.
    You will learn the basic needle felting techniques and then create  a small landscape to take home. All equipment provided, including a selection of gorgeous wool colours to choose from.
    Beginners welcome! Age 10+. Children to be accompanied by an adult.
    Cost is £25 including all materials, equipment and tuition  along with tea, coffee, biscuits.
